Description

Agave neomexicana, also known as New Mexico Agave, is a beautiful succulent native to the southwestern United States. It is characterized by its broad, gray-green leaves with a reddish-brown terminal spine and marginal teeth. The leaves are arranged in a compact rosette. Agave neomexicana is one of the most cold-hardy agave species. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil and is highly drought-tolerant. After many years, it produces a tall flowering stalk with yellow flowers, after which the plant dies. It is suitable for rock gardens and xeriscapes. Provide well-draining soil to prevent root rot, and be careful of the sharp spines. Mulching is a great idea to help conserve moisture.
