Description

Leucospermum bolusii, also known as Bolus' Pincushion, is a striking shrub native to the Cape Floristic Region of South Africa. Its most distinctive feature is its unique flower heads, which resemble pincushions with long, protruding styles. These styles are typically bright red, orange, or yellow, attracting birds and insects for pollination. The plant has needle-like leaves and generally reaches a height of about 1-2 meters. It prefers full sun and well-drained, acidic soil, characteristic of fynbos habitats. These plants are relatively low-maintenance and can be drought-tolerant once established. Propagation is best achieved through seeds or cuttings taken from semi-ripe wood.
