Description

Elegia equisetacea, commonly called the Horse-tail Reed, is a unique and architectural plant native to South Africa. It is known for its rush-like appearance with slender, jointed stems that resemble those of a horsetail plant. The stems are typically a bright green color, growing upright and creating a delicate, linear effect. It forms dense clumps, reaching heights of about 1.5 to 2 meters. This plant thrives in moist, well-drained soil and prefers full sun to partial shade. They are relatively low-maintenance once established. Propagation is best achieved through division of the rhizomes or from seeds, making it possible to establish new plants.
